Like many of my clients, Mrs. T is on a journey to self-love and acceptance after weight gain and loss, childbirth, breastfeeding… basically LIFE! Let me be clear — you do NOT have to lose weight to do boudoir photography. But if you have had a major change, doing boudoir after weight loss can be transformative in helping you see yourself differently. Hear Mrs. T’s thoughts in her own words below.
1. What made you choose Boudoir by indigosilver studio?
I had never really considered boudoir before. I have always been very self conscious about my body and stripping down in front of a camera was definitely not on my radar. Then I saw an ad or something on Facebook about a year ago and clicked on it because the image was beautiful. Then I looked through more and they were all so classy and elegant. I joined the private group and continued to see more and more gorgeous photos of beautiful women of all different shapes, sizes and ages. It started to make me feel like maybe I could do that too. I had already started a weight loss/fitness journey and decided that a boudoir session would be my reward once I reached my weight goal.
2. What were you nervous about going into your session?
Everything! Lol I am a worrier. So I was nervous about choosing the right lingerie for my body type. I was nervous about being basically naked in front of a stranger. I was nervous about how my body would look on film. Basically if you can think of it I worried and stressed about it.
3. How do you feel now that you’ve completed the session?
I am so happy that I did this for myself! This was definitely something that was outside my comfort zone, but I am learning that it’s good to step out of your comfort zone. My body is far from “perfect”. I am not young. I have fat and cellulite. I have scars and stretch marks and deflated boobs from breastfeeding 3 kids. BUT doing this helped me not only see that I am more than my imperfections, but those imperfections are part of my story. Part of who I am and part of what has made me the strong woman that I am today.
4. What was your favorite part of this experience?
Lori would show me some of the images after taking them. All of them looked better than I had expected, but when she showed me one set where you could see the vertical line in my abs I started to tear up. I recently lost 60 lbs and it showed me just how far I have come.
5. If you were to recommend us to your best friend, what would you say?
I highly recommended Indigosilver to anyone thinking of doing boudoir. It was an incredible experience. Very empowering. I walked in extremely nervous about everything and walked out feeling more confident than I have in years. Lori is great at making you feel comfortable and takes stunning, classy, and elegant photos.
6. Anything we could have done to make your experience better?
Nothing. It was perfect!!
