We were happy to travel to Charleston for Jennifer and Patrick’s engagement portraits, but Jennifer definitely wanted Wilmington as the backdrop for her bridal portraits. We scheduled her portrait session for a Thursday. Jenn and Patrick came in to town Wednesday to see their engagement pictures, planned the bridal for Thursday, the rehearsal dinner for Friday, and the wedding for Saturday. What a busy schedule!
So when Thursday rolled around, and the thunderstorm rolled in, there was no time to reschedule. It was time to play storm chaser — or rather storm avoider. It was starting to pour downtown, but Jeff guessed (correctly) that the worst of the storm hadn’t yet reached the beaches. We raced ahead of the clouds and photographed Jenn in her dress just as the rain was coming down. The stormy skies made for an amazing backdrop!

Once the rain got too heavy to keep going, we headed back to downtown to wait out the storm. After the storm passed, we had a little bit of light left to go to Battleship Park, and then back to downtown for some dramatic night time photos.

Despite braving the storm, Jenn’s dress was spotless and ready to wear down the aisle. Stay tuned for wedding-day photos!
